Okay... I was driving my parents car to work. I am 19. No tickets or crashes since I was 15 and a half. I was rear ended when I stopped for an ambulance. My parents have insurance on that car, but I am not on their policy. I did have my mother's permission to use the vehicle. Right now I live with my parents, we have 3 cars and there are 3 drivers. All of the cars are in my parents name. One of the cars is a total beater and was given to me as my own car, but we never bothered changing the ownership over because we didn't think it would live very long. My question is can I continue to drive this car while it is under my parents name? I will be living at a different adress from them also. He-yo.... I'm guessing any young newly qualified driver out there would of already found out is the shear cost of getting yer car insured. I know as I'm 18, male which supposedly makes me high risk so the cheapest insurance I got was 3820 and that's only for third party, and the car is only a 1.2 litre Renault Clio. My instructor mentioned that he heard a scheme that's being done for young new drivers, companies called: Young Banana & Young Marmalade The idea is that these companies have merged together with insurance companies to fill a gap in the market which is us young drivers. The scheme is that you buy a new car or a nearly new car with these guys and the car will come with affordable insurance. I had a look at it and decided to get a quote just out of interest with a new car. So I selected the nearly new car category and went with the new shaped Renault Clio. You can select to buy the car straight away or get it financed over a period of months with 60 being the longest, I got 150 monthly payment as the average which is just payment for the car. The first years insurance came as 1635, (got all excited and jumping, over - reacting) provided that your parents have a good record they are added to the policy for free. I was thinking that it was too good to be true, new car, affordable insurance. But then could be too good of a deal to go without some hidden catches. I dunno what makes me suspicious about these sites but the more I investigate into it the more I feel that this could become quite expensive. Health and travel insurance for the US?

Hi, I am a British student undertaking an internship in the U.S for 6 weeks this summer. I need Health insurance that complies with the requirements for the J-1 Visa, and though I have found a company that can help me (http://www.isoa.org/compare_plans.aspx) with Health insurance, they don't offer any travel insurance. The companies that I have found for travel insurance don't tend to provide the level of Health insurance that I require. Do people normally take out 2 seperate policies when travelling to the U.S? (e.g. one health, one travel?) If so, can anyone find me somewhere that provides travel insurance to the U.S without health insurance included? Thanks!

I finally passed my driving test (yesterday :D) and yeah I wasn't expecting to be able to get cheap car insurance, but i thought it would at least be somewhat affordable! I have used 3 different websites and filled out there forms. I have been quoted around 4000 to insure a Pegueot 106, Zest 3, 1.1L (1998-2003) model. What a joke. Is there something im doing wrong here? Is there a way to get it knocked down to something affordable? 2000-3000 at the most! I have seen the co-up young drivers insurance and that seems to put it at a affordable price, but I really don't want to have a smart box installed. Id hate to feel constantly paranoid about my driving and risk it going up due to mistakes. It would have to be a last resort. So far Ive looked at the Vauxhall corsa SXi, Renault Clio hatchbacks and of course the Peugeot 106's. So guys if you have any knowledge on cars that are best to insure for young drivers and the cheapest insurance companies, please could you help? My husband was involved in a car accident 2 years ago...the people filed a claim/law suit recently over some 'injuries' (which is BS because he works with this guy and he was no injured), just 2 days before statue of limitation expires. Since my husband's work requires so much traveling, it was pointless for him to keep car/insurance if he never drives, we sold his car so he no longer has car insurance. Now that these people 2 years LATER decided to sue...would his old insurance take care of it since the accident happened while he did have car insurance? And he was driving a friends car at the time...not his own care.
